CRITICAL REVIEW

An artist who stands as representative for the figurative, new-expressionist rebirth of the 80s. His creation is centred on the human figure within exemplary situations, echoing the heroic condition, the sacrifice and displaying a mythical nucleus. The motivation behind his entire repertoire of references and of his vocabulary is his tendency to re-sacralise the image, and by it, to re-sacralise the profane space. His works are mostly made in wood, maintaining as much as the raw, unrefined materiality as he could. Even the shape is, in its turn, plain, because he exploits the impact force between a primitive vision and allusions coming from the formal repertoires of the present universe.
