Born in 1939 in Warsaw, educated in Romania and established in France since 1978, the sculptor is tempted by the infinite volumetric possibilities open to the imaginative assumption along with Modernity’s innovations. Defined as an anthropomorphic sculptor and a modernist by excellence, Grégoire Slavu uses materials linked to a classic view and with an ancestral connexion with the lithic nature. The proportions of the characters are substantial / large, but the stances in which they are represented belong to a sentimental, amorous and slightly meditative scope. The sculptures are made of stone, marble, granite, wood, copper, clay, stucco, gypsum or by combining the above mentioned materials.
