Marius Tanasa’s sculptures express a profound understanding of the visible reality through selecting, analyzing and composing the significant visual forces that compile the volume. The shapes created by him seem to be understood and structured radiographically. His sculptures encode the secrets of an evolutionary system that can be essentially perceived from the inside to the outside. In this phenomenological point, the clever sketch artist and the insightful sculptor, the two representative personas of the artist Marius Tanasa, come together and complete each other.
The serious, graphic three-dimensional shapes borrow something from the elegant mobility of a universal alphabet inaugurated by the modern sculpture’s tendencies and continued by each of its representatives. The artist prefers working with traditional materials, such as lithic matter, wood, string and leather.
